This is budget accommodation at its best. Corofin Hostel offers excellent self catering facilities including

On ground level we have less abled facilities, a comfortable dining room, lounge and TV room.

We arrange lectures and guided tours on the Burren its geography, archaeology and wildlife.

Our large common room accommodates 30 and is available to groups for talks or meetings or just as a games room.

Package 1: A light hearted look at the Burren

This is a very varied and fun weekend. It is designed specially for people with a low tolerance of anything serious. .After a guided two hour walk in the Burren you spend the next two hours eating heartily at the Burren Fine Food and Wine. The wine is French but produced by a man from the Burren. The food is the best of Burren produce. The trip will take in the major must see landmarks in the Burren. A visit to Fr Ted’s house is a must and learning how to swear is optional. The treasure hunt is not for the faint hearted.

Saturday night you can cross the street to the pub and listen to live traditional music in front of the turf fire in the friendly company of the locals. The Clare traditional fiddle and concertina players are world class and that is another thing that is handed down through the generations.

Package 2: The Burren through Five Thousand Years-A Burren History & Archaeology & Farm Walk

This package allows you to experience the hidden sites under the expert guidance of a local archaeologist. Along with the facts and figures you will be introduced to the folklore that has been handed down through the generations along with a sprinkling of poetry and song. Did you know that you can see Early Bronze Age field walls and farms in the Burren? This weekend brings you up through the archaeology and into the historical period with a visit to the sixteenth century Irish Tower house giving a flavour for how life was lived five hundred years ago.

Moving into the present day you will be welcomed into a Burren farm. The farmers here are conscious of the unique nature of their environment and proudly continue the traditions of their fore fathers protecting the archaeology and the rich and fertile fields for future generations.

Package 3: The Burren through the Photographers Lens

This is for the amateur photographer with a love of the Burren. Techniques with light and shadow explained and demonstrated. Displaying your photos and uploading to create dramatic effect. Expect to capture the Spring Gentian Gentiana verna, Dryas, Milkwort or Wild Madder on the limestone. The clints and grykes can add some abstract shapes.

The patterns created in the dry stone walls must be photographed against the evening sky. Record some of our extensive built heritage which spans an amazing five thousand years. If you are lucky you could find the wild goats to make a really menacing picture.Every where you look you can allow your creativity to blossom. Come to the Burren in May and be inspired.

Sunday morning is photography workshop with tips for editing and making your own greeting cards.
